Mechanical Revisions[edit]
Goal Abandonment (Rules Clarification)[edit]
- Replace "[Goal Abandonment] costs them that turn’s FacCred income" with "costs that turn's income from Stats." This is a clarification and was in effect this turn.
- Additionally, remove the loss of a turn from abandoning a Goal. Loss of income is still negatively impactful and makes the action in a monthly turn less egregious. Hopefully, this is a start towards adapting XP systems in the near future.
Choosing Not to Deal Damage as the Result of an Attack (Rules Clarification)[edit]
Currently, a Faction can always choose not to deal damage when making an attack roll. Here are some clarifications on how to provide these conditional & associated rules:
- Opposition attacks to a Seize Planet Action MUST deal damage
- Opposition attacks to an Expand Influence Action MUST deal damage
- In most cases, the choice not to deal damage must be made before the dice are rolled; otherwise, their result is accepted. The exception to this is when damage is being applied to a Faction BoI. In this case, a 'remaining HP' number can be provided in secret by the Faction dealing damage. At this level of HP, the damage will no longer be applied to the Faction, preventing Faction Death if wished by the attacking Faction. This value is kept secret so it can't be gamed against when working out defensive orders for the future.
- Other clarifications can be added as needed. Ask the GM with time to spare before the Turn Lock. If you are submitting an order with this conditional and you want confirmation as written, your request is fine.
